Canstruction is coming soon to:

the Winter Garden of the World Financial Center, 220 Vesey Street and the West Side Highway. All structures will be on view from November 12 – November 22, from 7am – 11pm. The exhibition will be open Monday through Sunday.

What is Canstruction, you ask?

Canstruction® is an international charity competition where architects, engineers, contractors and students they mentor, compete to design and build giant structures made entirely from full cans of food. At the close of the competition all of the food from the New York City competition will be donated to City Harvest.

New York City is joined by 100 cities across North America who will hold Canstruction® Competitions in the coming year. Highlighting the creativity and compassion of top architectural and engineering firms, these astounding structures are helping to change the world – by lifting the spirits of those in need, by raising public awareness, and most importantly, by collecting millions of pounds of food for local food banks.

The New York City competition is Co-Presented by the Society for Design Administration New York Chapter, the AIA New York Chapter and arts>World Financial Center.

BTW, “The public is encouraged to bring a can of food to donate to City Harvest when coming to view the exhibit.”

If I wasn’t so busy, I’d suggest it to the organizers. But you can
